Home Movie Day reminder

Do you remember the clatter of the projector while images of family, friends and faraway places danced on a screen? Well, even if you don’t, you’re sure to enjoy Nebraska’s first “Home Movie Day,” a tribute to amateur movie making. You’re invited to this special event, at which you’ll see gems from the Nebraska State Historical Society’s large collection of home movies, and learn how to care for your own.

How-to Manual, 1939

Organizations and "how-to" literature, like this book from 1939, helped amateur filmmakers refine their hobby.

So if you’re a home movie hobbyist, a local or family historian, or just a lover of campy film, then Home Movie Day is for you! Save the date: October 15, 2011, 1:30-3:00pm, at the Nebraska History Museum, 15th and P Streets in Lincoln. The event is free to the public. For more information, call Paul Eisloeffel at 402-471-7837 or email paul.eisloeffel@nebraska.gov. Or, visit www.nebraskahistory.org or the Nebraska State Historical Society on Facebook.
