William Jennings Bryan: Back From The Dead!

Watch out! William Jennings Bryan has risen from the grave! No, I’m not referring to some B-grade horror movie put out by Hammer Studios (although I would probably watch it if there was one). A while back I wrote about some of our political cartoon collections. The Library/Archives staff recently ran across these cartoons of Bryan coming back from his “political death.”

"What the November Earthquake Did, November 11, 1904" (NSHS RG3554.AM)

The drawings are part of our John Tinney McCutcheon collection. Although McCutcheon wasn’t a Nebraskan, he was well known for his cartoons portraying William Jennings Bryan during his political career.

"The Reports of His Political Death Seem to Have Been Exaggerated, December 8, 1916" (NSHS RG3554.AM)

For more information about this collection or about William Jennings Bryan, please contact the Library/Archives Division.
